my love is spilling out like oil, all over you
07/15/2010 @ 2:25am
As the summer rolls on, we continue to reflect on our past and ponder what influence, the future will have on our music. Recently, we discovered some articles discussing shows we've played in the last few months.
The first two articles discuss our recent performances at LMC-TV's Award Show. The articles focus on LMC-TV and George Latimer but mention our performace, lyrics and musical interaction between the host, Vincent Graziano.
The third article is about the Queer Dance Party we played in January at The Cake Shop. The event brought people and bands of all sexual orientations together for a night of fun and equality. Although technically not a "Queer Punk Band," we were honored to have participated and this was one of the best shows we've been invited to play. QxBxR really knows how to throw a party! There is a video of us performing I'm In Pain attached to the article in Next Magazine.

2) LMC Honors Assemblyman Latimer – With Lots of Laughs from the Larchmont Gazette
3) SCENE + HEARD: Rockers Rejoice: QxBxRx Brings Queer Punk To Cake Shop from Next Magazine
Here's a video of us performing Way Down at The Cake Shop shot by our friend Kathleen Harrington.

FLC Show Recap
06/09/2010 @ 11:35pm
Over the weekend, we played another show at FLC, the Bronx Underground hot spot. Despite the heat, we had a great time playing some new songs but also throwing in some of our old ones. Some highlights of the performance include a big circle pit forming during Wipe Out, people singing along to Nobody Knows and performing the grand finale: our rendition of Shout.
UPDATE: We've received some pictures taken by our good friend, Liz O'Rourke. Here they are:

The Sound & Town Report, the weekly newspaper serving Larchmont and Mamaroneck, recently did an article about LMC-TV's 20th Awards Night celebration. The focus of the article is on the award night itself but features a photo of us since we were the house band that night. If interested, the article can be read here.
Also, don't forget about our upcoming show at FLC in the bronx tomorrow! Detials below.

Everybody's Doing the Fish (yeah, yeah, yeah)!
04/30/2010 @ 6:38pm
Last Saturday we played Manhattanville's 30th Quad Jam. The weather was warm and we were excited that Reel Big Fish would be performing later in the night. We ran through our set at 2:00pm playing mostly originals but throwing in an Isley Brothers song for good measure. It was awesome to be playing again on campus and we'd like to thank the Alumni department for inviting us.
ALSO: Be sure to come to our show tonight, April 30th, at Thataway Cafe in Greenwich, CT. Our real good friends Left In The Attic will be performing!
Here are some pictures from Quad Jam. Video to come soon:

We're gonna go to the record store...

SELL OUT!
The Kezners have been invited to play at Quad Jam, an annual music festival at Manhattanville College. NOTE: This event is for Manhattnville students, alumni and their registered guests only. If you do not go to Manhattanville, you must know a student or alumni member who could sign you in as a guest. Security is pretty tight, so don't come unless you know you can get on. (Alumni, click here to register).
The cool thing is, we're playing with Reel Big Fish! We've been listening to these guys since we were in junior high school (taking classes with Mr. Kezner himself) so we are really looking forward to sharing the stage with them. We've shared the stage with some other awesome bands from our youth at Quad Jams in the past such as The Bouncing Souls and The Gin Blossoms.
Also playing: Fabolous and numerous Mville bands.
Hope you can make it on campus! If not, don't sweat it. We're gonna try to film our set and if we do, we'll post some of it on YouTube. We may even get a little bit of Reel Big Fish's set and post that (if we're allowed).

Open your eyes and the sky is full of butterflies
03/05/2010 @ 11:45pm
We're pretty excited for the return of Spring. A few weeks ago, we eagerly set our clocks ahead 1 hour (who needs that extra hour of sleep?) and we even had a BBQ. We've been playing songs and anticipate the warm summer shows to come.
Brooklyn and New York City exudes a certain energy as the weather warms up. This Saturday, April 3rd, it's estimated to be 67 degrees in Brooklyn. We'll be playing at Goodbye Blue Monday in Brooklyn Saturday evening with The Sketties & The Slackwater News. And the show is FREE. Come celebrate the return of Spring and dance with us straight into the morning sun!

Queers, Beers & Rears!
01/05/2010 @ 1pm
This Saturday, Jan. 9th, The Kezners will be playing at The Cake Shop in New York City for the Queers, Beers & Rears event!
About Queers, Beers & Rears:
Q.B.R. happens once a month at the Cake Shop, NYC. Boys are Go-Karff, Sir Loins & A. Martini
Jon Ginoli, lead singer of Pansy Division, has this to say:
"My impression of attending (and playing) QBR is of barely dressed go-go boys inciting the crowd to dance while the DJs spun great punk and glam. It's queer, underground (um, literally in a basement), sexy and rockin'. Fuck yeah!"
This show is cheap ($5 before 11pm, $8 after) and there will be an open bar from 11:00pm - Midnight. That's right free booze! We will be playing with 3 other bands and a DJ and we take the stage at 12:45am. For all the details, suchas other bands, see the show page.
BRING ALL YOUR FRIENDS!

A Few Paper Cuts Never Stopped Us...
11/23/2009
This is coming late but we want to thank everyone who came to our Halloween shows! As usual, The Meatlocker was a lot of fun and we always enjoy playing with The Lackawanna Project. We hope to play there again soon. Thanks to The Bronx Undergound for having us usher in Halloween at the Bruckner Bar. We saw a lot of familiar faces there and having you guys dancing in the early hours of Halloween Morning was much appreciated. That show saw the return of our paper helicopters and we hope everyone enjoyed being showered in helicopters and hershey kisses. Also, you may have noticed we tried out some new songs that we hope you liked.
And, finally, thanks to Frank Bees for having us back! It was fun playing to the busy costume buyers on the streets of The Bronx and was a trip down memory lane. Expect to see some photos soon.

No-one's to blame, I know time flies so quickly...
10/06/2009
Back in 2000, we played our first paying gig performing outside of the famous Frank Bee costume store. The band was just getting off the ground and we were thrilled to be paying in front of a crowd. The money we earned usually went to 7-11 coffees and pizza from Luca's Pizzeria around the corner.
A year later, we were called back to do it again. We had played a few other shows by this point but there was still something specialplaying outside of Frank Bees. That majestic Autumn feeling was intensified through these performances. You know - the excitement of a new year of school; the uncertainty of meeting a special someone to ask to the dance and the transition into winter as the temperature cools down and the air becomes crisp.
It's almost impossible to imagine that 8 years have passed. Since then, a lot has changed but you could feel the excitement as Halloween quickly approaches. We are happy to announce that we will be performing once again in front of Frank Bees 3 times this month: Sun. Oct. 11th, Sat. Oct. 17th and Halloween day! Come enjoy some background music as you pick out your costume.

HE WAS AN ARTIST AND A WRITER AND A POET AND A FRIEND
09/10/2009
The Kezners lost perhaps the greatest friend the band will ever know- last week- when former bassist John Costello passed away. John played bass in the band, on and off, from 2001- 2003. John grew up down the street from Mike and the two learned to play guitar with each other, writing songs together from the moment they leaned their first chords.
Along with Mike, Joe and friend Tim McElroy, John co-wrote songs and played bass in the Kezner side-project called The Nutrinos. He is featured on several recordings from that time as well as several recorded Live sets that The Nutrinosoet and and The Kezners played together.
Forever helping us move equipment and settle disputes, John was always around to lend a helping hand, a friendly ear to listen to your pain, and a cold beer and cigarette to ease it. We'll never forget him.
The tapes with John on them will be mastered and distributed shortly. Our music was John's music, and without him there would be no us. Our prayers are with his parents, brother and girlfriend Robin, and if you're the praying type - may yours be too.

LMC-TV
08/07/2009
Last week we performed on Open Stage, a TV program that airs on LMC-TV (Larchmont-Mamaroneck Community Television). This performance will be set to air sometime in September and will be availble on Cable television to residents in Mamaroneck & Larchmont. However, we will also be making the performance available on our YouTube channel!
We had a blast as we ran through a bunch of our songs. Special thanks to Dena Schumacher for producing the program and thanks to everyone who helped with sound, lighting and shooting the video cameras.

KEZNERS - FREE SHOW @ OTTO'S SHRUNKEN HEAD!
07/30/2009
Are you sick of shouting "I WANNA COME DANCE, but no one wants to come with me"?
Are you waiting for that special someone to finally realize how AWESOME you really are?
Well, our despondent friends- The Kezners realize how awesome you really are- just as you are. We also recognize how awesome you can be when you're smiling and dancing and forgetting about the stifling nature of this reality.
See, we're playing Thursday night at Otto's Shrunken Head with our friends from the south, Late Night Killers. The show is free, the advice is free. We'll also have special guests, ones who are stunning and beautiful!
We know some of you will be dismayed by the show being on a school-night or a work-night- but Thursday is the BEST night to go out. Anyone who knows anything can tell you that. Some of us might even go dancing afterwards!
The fact of the matter is this: the summer is just about done with her adolescence so there's not much time before she feels totally hopeless. So, before she is closer to the end than to the beginning, you should permit yourself to enjoy a night with the same enthusiasm you USED TO FEEL! All are welcome- even if you don't know us very well.
We're not making any money off of you- we just want you to dance and have fun.
